Excurricular is an editorial outpost highlighting the disciplines of art, architecture and the applied arts. We are drawn to people and places with roots in the past with the simple goal of communicating these themes through film, photography and storytelling.
It all started by mailing a dozen Kodak 35mm disposable cameras—to artists, architects, chefs, designers, writers and museum directors all over the country. They took a creative risk, snapping pictures with no opportunity for review and mailing back the undeveloped film, documenting small details and big ideas in a field notebook along the way. There was no prompt but to have fun, and don’t overthink it. The outcomes are documented here. Additionally, Excurricular has directed and produced two documentary shorts on the artists George Dawnay and Matt Kleberg.
